DFC (Doctors Foundation For Care), also known as Doctors for Change, is a global healthcare movement that reconnects Nigerian diaspora doctors with patients back home. We are a collective of physicians who trained outside Nigeria, working to bridge the gap created by brain drain. Through DFC, Nigerians can access specialist medical expertise from their own doctors abroad via consultations, specialist appointments, and second opinions.

How does a consultation work?

Browse our specialist directory by specialty and location. Book a time that works for you during the doctor's availability window. Attend your consultation in person at a partner facility, or online via video call. The doctor provides their assessment, and any follow-up is managed through the platform.

How are DFC doctors verified?

Every DFC member holds a valid medical licence, has completed specialist training abroad (UK, US, Canada, or equivalent), and has been endorsed by at least two existing DFC members. Credentials are checked by the DFC secretariat before a profile goes live.

What is a second opinion?

An independent review of your diagnosis or treatment plan by a specialist who was not involved in your original care. You submit your medical records, and a DFC specialist provides a written report with their assessment. It is not an emergency service.

How much does a consultation cost?

Fees vary by specialist and consultation type. All prices are shown before you book. Second opinions start at ₦85,000 for a standard written review. There are no hidden charges.

Click Join DFC on the homepage and complete the membership application. You will need to provide your medical credentials, training history, and at least two peer endorsements from existing DFC members. Annual membership dues apply.

What is the Emergency Response Initiative?

The ERI is DFC's flagship initiative for 2026. It is a six-pillar technical working group developing a national emergency response policy framework for Nigeria. Over 27 physicians are contributing across pillars covering referral coordination, community engagement, workforce training, data collection, financing, and governance.
